Plants & Stone
The Plants & Stone project was intended to improve the street view of a vertically aligned home in the hilly Ashberry Heights neighborhood. An additional goal of the client was to fix a safety hazard created by the steep and uneven sidewalk in front of the house. Stone planters were designed in a way to maximize planting space, cover a drop in the sidewalk, and mark the driveway to passersby. The selection of cobblestones with corner accents complements the faux-Tudor style of the house. Similarly, the enhanced walkway uses long, dark granite pavers to mimic the half-timber design element on the facade of the building. The overall effect is the creation of a new outdoor space where the building intersects with the streetscape, thus connecting it more to the neighborhhood.
